Concepto Azul in association with the humanitarian NGO “Bleu Cameroun” and a group of traditional tribal chiefs from coastal communities, initiated in 2008 a pilot project dedicated to the development of communitarian and familiar penaeid aquaculture. Since 2008, these different partners are associated in a Cameroonian company named AQUASOL (Aquaculture and solidarity).

The project is currently in its initial phase with the creation of an aquaculture pilot centre in Kribi for the production of local species larvae, on the one hand, Penaeus notialis an Asian native species yet present in the region and, on the other hand, Penaeus notialis a local species. Breeders, collected from wild stocks, will be progressively certificated locally in order to use solely pathogen free animals.  Systems of production to be implemented will be hyper-intensive in three phases, with optimized production through the use of domesticated periphyton to improve nutrition patterns as well as water quality.
