Global program for disease prevention and genetic improvement of the shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei.

  • Shrimp farm of 960 hectares
  • Laboratory with an overall production capacity of 200 millions of post larvae per month
  • Packaging plant

In response to the concerns raised by the presence of IMNV and IHHNV viruses, as well as, the intracellular bacteria NHP, the POTIPORA group initiated a program of disease prevention and genetic improvement at the end of 2004. The program objectives are the achievement of pathogen-free larva and shrimp selection in order to obtain lines presenting resistance to the IMNV virus as well as resistance to various factors of physiological stress (low salinity, hypoxia).

The company counts with a modern molecular biology laboratory where pathology, immunology and genetic analysis are conduced using techniques such as PCR, LAMP and Real-Time PCR

The disease prevention program is first based on the analysis of breeders by PCR and LAMP placed in quarantine followed by the elimination of individual’s carrying any of the three pathogens.

A complete unit of larvae production.
